Frequently Asked Questions
- Who are we looking for? We’re picturing the winners as individuals who are passionate about being a Ram, people who brag to their friends about how great WSSU is, people who bleed red and black, those who remember dressing up to attend a football game and still do, folks who would love the chance to be part of everything Ram and spread the news to all alumni as a representative of graduates of the last decade.
- What do the winners do? Attend WSSU events – games, donor receptions, tours, and other Ram gatherings as a representative of alumni, Classes 2000 to 2009. You’ll be photographed here and there and see yourself in publications and online. We’ll ask your opinion about young alumni initiatives, programming, messages — you’ll help us “hear” what our younger grads have to say.
- When is the deadline? All applications should be submitted no later than December 11, 2009. The top five will be announced by December 15 and invited to submit video of themselves by January 15, 2010. Those videos will be posted to a Web site by February 1, 2010 for young alumni to vote on their favorite. Winners will be announced March 1, 2010.
- Why would I want to be the face of I Am Ram? Who wouldn’t?! This is your chance for fame—of sorts. Winners with the most votes will have the opportunity to represent their peers and the entire university. You’ll be celebrated, honored, asked for opinions relating to WSSU initiatives, cheering at games, attending events, talking with other young alumni, gaining professional knowledge and more during your term.
- How are the winners chosen? A group of select young alumni and administrators will sort through the applications and pick the five we think best embody what it means to be Ram for one year. We’ll then ask the final five to submit a video depicting why they should be chosen. From there, we’ll invite all young alumni to vote on the one person they think would best represent them. Those with the most votes will be named the winners on March 1, 2010.
- Who’s my competition? Well, thousands of fellow Rams graduated from WSSU in the last decade. And people do like to talk about themselves. Let’s just say we’re expecting lots of applications. Make yours original and prove how much you bleed red and black.
- How much time is involved if I’m chosen? Trust us, we know how crazy life can be! We’re talking about only a couple hours a month, and event attendance is at your convenience. You will be invited to virtually tons of cool University events where you’ll have the chance to meet other great alumni, network, chat about the future of WSSU, cheer for the Rams and more! We’ll want you to attend as many events as you’re able, but we understand that young alumni are busy folks!
